Bray Parish Council

Bray Parish Council, along with many others, was formed following an Act of Parliament in 1894 and covers the rural areas between Windsor and Maidenhead. Most of the parish lies within the greenbelt and has the village centres of both Bray and Holyport designated as conservation areas. The Council employs a clerk and a part-time gardener.

Our main function is to represent the local community. If we are unable to deal with the needs and concerns of the residents, we are able, via the clerk, to talk to the Royal Borough on their behalf and will often speed up the process of ‘getting something done’.

The Parish Council is directly responsible for the maintenance of village greens in Bray and Holyport, the jubilee recreational area in Bray and recreational areas in Aysgarth Park, Springfield Park and Gays Lane in Holyport. It maintains the churchyard at St Michael’s, Bray and for the past 100 years it has owned and maintained the Bray Parish Cemetery situated on the A308 Windsor Road. Some of the street lighting within the parish is the responsibility of the parish council and the clerk is always very grateful to the residents who report any that are not working.

The name Bray does not illustrate the extent of the parish that comprises the four Wards of Bray, Holyport (including Moneyrow Green and Touchen End), Oakley Green and Fifield and a small part of Dedworth.
